‘Tis the season for BBQ and I always seem to have extra buns.  We never make 8 hamburgers and Lil’ Bit eats her hot dogs in pieces still.   Brat buns come in 8 packs and brats come in 5 packs.

We have several things we LOVE to do with leftover buns.

  • garlic bread.  Our VERY favorite.   Butter, add some garlic POWDER (not salt) and broil until toasted.  YUM!
  • hamburger pizzas.   Put a spoonful of sauce, some extra cheese and whatever leftover’s you like on top.    Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted to your liking.   Toaster ovens are awesome for summer baking.  I highly recommend one.  Really!
  • Croutons.   I haven’t had a chance to try these out yet because I still have some bagged ones, but I’m going to try these and these.    I love the buttery cheese and buttery garlic croutons at the store.  Not so big on the chemicals though.
  • bread pudding.   Last time we made this, we used stale doughnuts and this Chocolate Bread Pudding recipe.  Oh.My.Word.   It was awesome.
