There is nothing worse than having an explosion of something in your microwave, especially after you’ve let it fester and harden and bake on for another month or two.   Yeah, been there, done that.

Even the baked bean explosion of 2009 is no match for this quick and easy way to clean the microwave.

Fill a 4 c pyrex measuring cup with water and a little baking soda (a few tablespoons?  I don’t know–I eyeball it).    Turn on the microwave and let the water boil for 4-8 minutes.     Let it sit in there and steam a bit when done.   Use hot pads to pull out the water and get a cloth to wipe out the inside.    Most of it should come right off.

And that’s how cleaning the microwave works for me!
